A NICE BIT OF KIT

Studio One Kit LR

Presonus has put together the handy, if tongue-twisting “Music Creation Suite Recording Kit”, which you can regard as either a starter kit for aspiring recording artists or a complete, mobile setup for experienced musicians on the road. You get everything you need, all Presonus branded – a 49 key controller, an M7 condenser microphone with a cable and nifty desktop stand, monitoring headphones, the Presonus’ AudioBox USB and MIDI interface, and even a USB 2.0 hub to make sure you can hook it all up. For those interested in squiggles and dots, also included is Notion notation software (Presonus snaffled Notion Music in October last year). At the heart of it all is Presonus Studio One Artist DAW, for both Mac and PC. The S1 Artist version has a good range of virtual instruments, FX plug-ins and the Ampire plug-in should keep guitarists happy for a while. It should be pointed out that Artist doesn’t support third party plug-ins, if you are thinking of a mobile rig that can translate into a larger studio later, otherwise all the bases are covered – for AUS$599.00. Stocks are just around the corner. Info and tech specs on the individual components at www.presonus.com
