A New Phase From M.Phase

A startup company called M.Phase based in Austria has recently launched what it calls the world's first multi-touch gesture app to control your DAW from an iPad.

As you might tell from the picture the M.Phase DAW Remote offers a completely different workflow and GUI including the concept of being able to work “blindly”, meaning that your attention can remain on the important aspects of the DAW display (or anything else) rather than be squinting at transport controls and virtual faders. It’s forgiving apparently – poking and prodding at your touchpad screen will still produce the control you’re after. The app offers identical multi-touch gestures for all major DAWs and while so far the list of definite, supported software isn’t extensive that list will grow over time and some DAWs should respond to M.Phase Remote already anyway. It looks radical, so we’ve asked to get a copy of M.Phase Remote to try it for ourselves. The website at www.mphase-studio.com has plenty of pictures and videos. You may get excited – or perhaps unimpressed at the prospect of learning an interface that bears little resemblance to your DAW GUI. Cost in the Australian App Store is $19.99.
