There’s no shortage of options from Presonus in the monitoring world, with its release of the new R Series Air Motion Transformer (AMT) studio monitors.
The R Series consists of the R65 and R80 models, featuring 6.5” and 8” Kevlar LF drivers, respectively. Both have a custom 6.8” tweeter designed to respond to subtle waveforms and the highest frequencies, allowing you to hear greater detail and a better sense of space characteristic of audiophile recordings. Their transparent and accurate sonic signature make them ideal for use in both commercial and home recording environments.
Unlike conventional dome tweeters, the R Series monitors utilise AMT tweeters — an extremely thin folded Kapton membrane with an inlayed aluminium circuit functioning as the voice coil, allowing the tweeter to move at the same time as the electric current. This in turn improves transient response and overall high-end clarity.
Both the R65 and R80 allow you to select user-adjustable contours to help them best suit your mixing space. the four-position Acoustic Space switch helps compensate for the boundary bass boost that occurs when a speaker is placed near a wall. The R Series monitors provide XLR, 1/4” TRS and unbalanced RCA line-level audio inputs.
