Apogee’s Best Conversion Yet

By

29 January 2018

Apogee has announced the new 2×6 Special Edition AD/DA module for its flagship Symphony I/O Mk II. Designed specifically for mastering engineers seeking uncompromising sound quality, Symphony I/O Mk II 2×6 SE offers the best quality conversion of any Apogee converter ever.

What are the numbers? The two line level inputs offer 124 dBA of dynamic range, THD+N of -116dB and six line level outputs with 131dBA dynamic range and an incredibly low THD+N of -118dB. Lucas Van Der Mee, Apogee’s Senior Hardware Engineer, comments “These are real measurements, taken with our lab test equipment and not just ‘data sheet’ specs. The new 2×6 SE will outperform just about anything in the market… at any price.”

The D/A stage incorporates the latest DAC technology, carefully optimised to offer mastering engineers the ultimate transparency to make critical adjustments with confidence. Whether you’re working with analogue outboard gear or digitally in a DAW on your computer, the 2×6 SE retains every bit of warmth, punch and image in your recordings and signal processing chain.

Symphony I/O Mk II 2×6 SE is available in Thunderbolt and Pro Tools HD configurations, or can be purchased separately to expand existing Symphony I/O Mk II configurations.

Apogee also previewed its all-new DualPath FX Rack software at NAMM. Designed specifically for Ensemble Thunderbolt and Element Series audio interfaces, DualPath FX rack provides dynamics and EQ plug-in processing that runs both natively in your DAW and on hardware-based DSP in an Apogee interface. Both plugin types can be launched from your DAW and linked for parallel operation. DualPath FX Rack is compatible with all major DAWs including Logic, Pro Tools Ableton Live and Cubase.
