Yamaha has today announced its new flagship live console, the Rivage PM10, which is expected to be released sometime in 2015.

It has to be said, in the forty odd years since Yamaha’s first live console was released, the PM series has done a ton of mileage and marked the waypoints of technology during that time. Although new releases are few and far between, with more than ten years passing since its PM1D and PM5D started touring. But it was worth the wait, as Yamaha has so eloquently stated, the Rivage PM10 does inherit the “DNA” that has made PM series consoles favorites, and its features have evolved to keep up with the current (or possibly future) standards expected in a quality FOH console.

The new system is comprised of the CS-R10 control surface, with a DSP-R10 DSP engine under the bonnet, the RPio622 I/O rack, three types of RY cards, two types of HY cards and is configurable to suit different setups and projects. The control surface features three groups of twelve faders and a touch screen.

Every input channel on the system comes with a Rupert Neve designed Hybrid Microphone Preamplifier, modeled on Yamaha’s VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modelling). The preamps come with ‘SILK processing’ functionality, in two different styles with a third Texture knob. All input channels also feature a 4-band full parametric EQ, while the output channels are equipped with 8-band full parametric EQ, in four algorithm types.

Yamaha collaborated with a number of effects makers, with a total of forty-five plugins added to the package. Included are Rupert Neve Designs’ VCM models of the 70s & 80s outboard devices, such as (all with the Rupert pretext) EQ 773, Comp 754, EQ 810, and Comp 830. Two new reverb plugins from TC Electronics, the VSS4HD room simulation reverbs and the envelope filtered gate reverb NON LIN2. Eventide has also included a reproduction of its H300 Ultra Harmoniser algorithm, in the H3000-Live plugin.

“The mixer is the core of any live sound system. Our new flagship RIVAGE PM10 system culminates more than 40 years of PM series history while heralding a new era of extraordinary sound, operation, and reliability. It is an unbeatable choice for the most demanding live sound applications” notes Chihaya “Chick” Hirai, Yamaha PA department manager.

“It is also no exaggeration to say that the RIVAGE PM10 system has been made possible by dedicated support and feedback from our customers throughout our long history, plus our passion for creating industry-leading products.
