You get the feeling that Allen & Heath was just as surprised by the Qu-16’s astonishing success in 2013 as anyone. But, it had/has that certain je ne sais quoi: perfect combo of price, features, look and feel. And now we have the Qu-24 (retailing at A$4995), the 30-in/24-out version. Qu-24 features total recall of settings (including 25 motorised faders and digitally controlled preamps), a touchscreen, Qu-Drive integrated multi-track recorder, dSnake for remote I/O and personal monitoring, multi-channel USB streaming to Mac, Qu-Pad control app, and iLive’s FX library. A&H R&D director, Rob Clark, sums up the Qu-24 difference best: “Building on the key features of the hugely successful Qu-16, Qu-24 is an exciting follow up. During the design process we aimed to retain a compact format with all mic inputs on one layer, with extra matrix, groups and FX sends to suit larger applications.”
