Apogee Electronics has announced its most-requested update: native Thunderbolt 3 connectivity for the flagship Symphony Mk II. This major evolution of the platform is a direct response to user feedback and is designed to future-proof their investment, ensuring the Symphony Mk II remains the heart of the professional studio for years to come. All new units ship with the new module, and a separate Thunderbolt 3 upgrade module is now available for all existing Symphony Mk II users.

“The Symphony Mk II is a significant investment for any audio professional,” said Betty Bennett, CEO of Apogee. “Our users are in critical, no-fail environments, and they asked for a native Thunderbolt 3 connection for maximum confidence and a simpler setup. We’re thrilled to deliver that today, both for new customers and for the thousands of producers, engineers, and artists who already rely on Symphony.”

A Simpler, More Confident Studio Core

This update is all about delivering the seamless, professional experience you’ve been asking for.

Future-Proof Your Investment: The Symphony Mk II is a significant investment. With native Thunderbolt 3, you can feel confident that your interface will be the heart of your studio for many, many years to come.

No More Adapters: Enjoy a simpler, more streamlined setup. Connect directly to modern Macs with no adapters, which means one less point of potential failure and less troubleshooting.

Easy & Flexible Cables: Finding the right cable is now easier than ever. This module works flawlessly with any TB3, TB4, or TB5 cable—including optical options that allow for much longer cable runs.

What Hasn’t Changed? Everything You Love.

Let’s be clear: this is a connection update, not a change to the sound. You still get the exact same:

Elite Apogee AD/DA Conversion

Ultra-low Latency Performance

Modular I/O Flexibility

Same Drivers, Same Software, Same Workflow

No new drivers, no new software—just a simpler, more modern connection

Two Ways to Get Connected

For New Customers: If you’ve been waiting for a native TB3 solution, this is your green light. All new Symphony Mk II units (look for ‘TB3’ in the part number) ship with Thunderbolt 3 as the new standard.

For Existing Owners: Bring your current Symphony Mk II up to the latest standard with our new Thunderbolt 3 Upgrade Module. It’s a straightforward DIY process for anyone comfortable building a PC or a 500-series kit. If you’d rather not do it yourself, your local dealer or our team can handle the installation.

A Note for Our TB2 Users: If you’re happily running your Symphony Mk II with a Thunderbolt 2 adapter, your setup remains 100% compatible and supported. We are not forcing anyone to upgrade. This module is simply a new option for those who want a more direct connection and future-proof experience.
