AT2020

This limited edition mic will look great with the rug.

Audio-Technica has announced a limited edition white version of its hugely successful AT2020. The mic was originally 2005 and has become something of a standard in small and project studios, largely due to its value for money.

The limited ed. comes in black or white (no pink then? Shame) and features a custom-engineered low-mass diaphragm manufactured in Audio-Technicas’ high-tech Machida, Tokyo ‘clean-room’ factory.

It’s been designed to comfortably handle extended 20 – 20,000Hz frequencies and extremely high SPLs – up to 144 dB – the AT2020 nonetheless captures audio with uncoloured precision. It has a fixed format cardioid polar pattern, a cast aluminium shell and a firmly held capsule, attached at top and bottom. The mic works equally as well in the studio as it does on the road for positions like drum overheads (I’m sure they’d like a pink one), guitar cabinet and acoustic instruments.

The AT2020 is part of Audio-Technica’s 20 Series large diaphragm microphone product range which includes the AT2020-USB+ with digital USB out, the fixed format cardioid AT2035 and the switchable polar pattern AT2050.

The limited edition AT2020 will retail in Australia for $149. More info: www.audio-technica.com.au
