DENON DJ WANTS TO CHANGE YOUR RIDER — AudioTechnology
The upper echelons of the DJ technology world have been dominated by just one brand for over a decade now. Last month Denon DJ surprised many in the industry by announcing a true challenger to the throne, the Prime series. Comprised of three models — SC5000 Prime Media Player, X1800 four-channel Prime DJ Mixer and VL12 Prime Turntable — these three products received their fair share of attention at NAMM 2017. The VL12 Prime turntable is all analogue, with adjustable torque, adjustable pitch range (8, 16, 50%) and customisable RGB lighting under the platter. We’re told it has some of the best performance specs found on a DJ turntable and is the first non-super OEM mass production turntable since Technics 1200’s. SC5000 Prime Media Player features a seven-inch HD display that is multi-touch and gesture sensitive, dual independent 24-bit/96kHz outputs eight-inch metal jog wheel with embedded HD display and most importantly, 100% standalone operation, running Denon DJ’s new Engine Prime software.
SC5000 and X1800 are set at $2499, arriving March and April 2017 respectively. VL12 is $999 and arriving April 2017.
