Sixth Sample: Cramit

A free multi-band OTT-style compressor plugin.

By

16 November 2023

Sixth Sample is a Finnish-based plugin company founded by Aapo Vainonen, who after finding that most plugins used in computer-based audio production were unnecessarily complex, looked to provide tools to circumvent this. While filling this need, Aapo began to build plugins that he wished existed, and with a company mission that seeks to ‘make music production effortless’ these had to function in a way that didn’t disrupt a normal workflow with steep learning curves. Vainonen says, “Making music is all about having fun and the unparalleled feeling of creation. Sixth Sample plugins are, from the very beginning, built around this idea.”

Cramit is an OTT / distortion style compression plugin, developed in conjunction with Integraudio. Combining the endless use-cases of multi-band compression and high-quality distortion, Cramit may become one of your most used plugins. Those familiar with the legendary OTT compressor plugin will know that results can be improved with the addition of harmonics before or after the compressor. Well, Cramit conveniently wraps this functionality into the one plugin. With its simple interface and visual guides, Cramit is ready to cram some energy into your music.

Features:
  • 3-band upwards/downwards compression and expansion
  • Pre and post distortion
  • 7 distortion types integrated into one slider
  • 10 factory presets
OS Requirements:

Windows 8.1 or newer
32-bit / 64-bit VST3 or 64-bit AAX support

macOS 10.9 or newer (Intel & M1)
