ARTURIA iSPARK: iPAD BEAT-MAKING MACHINE - AudioTechnology
Arturia’s new iSpark app is designed to be an all-inclusive beat-making solution. With a variety of individual instruments inspired by renowned drum machines, iSpark lets you play drum patterns in realtime while tweaking your sound on the fly. You also get a flexible 64-step sequencer to enhance your workflow and creative freedom. The app unites Arturia’s TAE technology with a modular engine, physical modelling, and multi-layered samples.
iSpark has multiple views with different functions. In Kit View, you can create your own kits by selecting from 40 presets and 640 individual instruments in the iPad-optimised browser. Each preset contains pre-written, editable patterns. Studio View is where you customise your kits and instruments to your liking, with plenty of tweaking options available. You can even use your own WAV or AIFF sample as the starting point of your sound. Main View is laid out for performance — the step-sequencer lets you conceive patterns and you can record them in realtime by playing the virtual pads. Mixer view is laid out like a console, with a range of effects and adjustments at your disposal. And switch over to SongEdit view to drag-and-drop your patterns together to create a whole performance, and modulate them with the two XY touchpads.
iSpark also allows for connection to the SparkLE controller, if you’re more familiar with the hardware approach. And it’s fully compatible with Spark 2 software so you can exchange your projects, kits and, patterns freely both ways.
