Joining the family of API 500 series modules is an awaited line amplifier, the 535-LA. Modelled after API’s highly prized console-based booster cards, the 535 can both amplify and attenuate incoming and outgoing signals. And of course, it’ll add all that API warmth and goodness in the process.

Applications for the 535 include adjusting signal levels such as inputs from keyboards, audio playback devices, mic preamps, or any kind of audio processing device that doesn’t have its own level control. It’ll be a good way to inject some ‘analogue-ness’ to to digital signals like DAW outputs. The module features a balanced input, polarity switch, 20dB pad and LED clip indicator. There’s also a three-position toggle switch to vary the output gain levels from the transformer. Output gain range is from 6dB to 45dB. The 535 uses the discrete 2510 and 2520 op amps along with API’s transformers, and comes with a five year warranty.

API is currently taking order for the 535-LA. RRP is US $595.
