Tascam’s DR-10SG packs problem-solving punch into a small package. It’s a hot-shoe-mountable shotgun microphone that also functions as a digital recorder.
The directional supercardioid mic has an integrated shock-resistant mounting foot. The recorder features four selectable EQ modes, audio pass-through to the camera, and an on-board slate for synchronisation during post production. And Tascam’s Dual Recording mode has your back when those unpredictable SPL spikes take place — it automatically records a second ‘safety take’ at a lower level. Monitor your audio via the 3.5mm headphone jack, and check recorded audio straight away by playing it back from the recorder.
Automatic file closing saves file data before the battery runs out, and the EL display provides a readout of battery life — which, by the way, is quoted to be 8.5 hours on a single alkaline battery. The DR-10SG also has a Micro-B USB 2.0 port for transferring files directly to a computer.
